i just got my 12g nano tank. i just need a list of things to pick up at the lfs today.
i know i need
test kit
hydrometer
water
salt
sand
live rock
i have
12g nano cube
fission nano skimmer
heater
i need to know what i need to pick up at the store. not to mention i don't know where to place the skimmer, and i don't know how so many cords are supposed to come out of the tank under the lid

The skimmer should be a hang on, and just put it out of sight. Make sure your lights are strong enough for the live rock and/or if you're interested, corals. The cords for the lid in a nano will be pre-installed, so don't worry about that. Just make sure you have room to plug it all in with a drip loop.

the submersible pump had a plug that needed to come out the back, plus a heater and skimmer. the fission nano skimmer doesn't hang out the back.

well i got what i needed, and i think i'm ready to start. i had to buy the pre mixed salt water because i went a ton of places and no one sold the ro/di water and i didn't have 200 to spend on a filter at home depot or lowes.
so now i'm going to put the water in the tank and make sure that it is at the right gravity level then add the live aragonite sand. should the filter be running during this?
i plan on going back in the next few days to buy the live rock i want to put in there.
then how often do i need to test?

ok, i put the pre mixed water in there and it is at 1.027 will this change as it sits over night? do i just take some water out and make room for some fresh ro water and add it to get the right salinity?
and do i need to make sure the salinity is right before adding the sand and lr?

ok well i took out some water and made room for some plain ro water. i added that to try and get the salinity down.
when i get home from work, if the water is right i will add the sand and rock. i assume i need to turn the filter off until it all settles. someone tell me if i am wrong.
i also need to know what kind of supplements or what not i need to be adding to the water for the live rock

i also need to know if this is safe to put in my tank. this looks like some sort of fluffy green algae on the rocks to me.
sorry for the poor quality, i only had my camera phone with me in the store

um that doesn't look to be the best of algaes but I'm not totatly sure..
about what else you need (which you may have):
--Net
--extra clean bucket for mixing water for water changes (24 hours in advance)
--heater for the heating of the new water.
--tubing for drip acclimating your new animals! (other ways too, but this is one of my favs)
and I'm sure there are even a couple other things, but hope that helps :)
