Yesterday we bought a new tank. We started small to see if we liked it(30long), and we do so we went down to the fish store and looked at the tanks it was either the 85 witch was the best or the 55.... if we got the 85 we would need more rock.... anouther mudfilter.. and it would have to cycle again =-[. We got the 55 and 1 bag of sand and a new light to fit on it.... got the thing set up.. let my fish drip till the sality the same.. then duped them and the rest of my old water in. OK now here is a minor problem when i set the tank up i think i dump the new bag of sand to fast or somthing and it made bubbles at the top and made the water so cloudy you could not see anything inside just a white blur.. still put fish in anyway... they good today but water is still couldy its slowy getting better but i didnt think it would take this long. Is this normal?? all the fish are still alive.. and looking good now that i can see them.

Probably wasnt the best way to do it, but your fish will most likely survive. Usually you should let the tank run for a few days just in case. Did you use any of the original sand from your 30 gallon? Really you probably could have gotten the 85 gallon as well. When I initially setup my 70 it never cycled. I started with about 20+lbs of live sand, some live rock etc, and about another 40 lbs of carib sea special grade. Let my tank run for a day or so then added fish. I only added a couple of chromis to play it safe, and my tank never cycled at all. Just keep and eye on it and you might want to look into getting a better filtration system.

Ya, but umm this tank cost us like 467 all together and the 85 would have cost us 400 for the tank and stand, 150 for the light, 300 for the mudfilter,(we got 1 so 1 more would work the guy said) and 10 lbs of live rock.. so it was alot more expensive. And yes we put all of our live rock and sand in it witch was like 30 lbs of rock and like 60+ lbs of live sand and crushed coral. and we added 1 more bag of sand. I just want the stuiped thing clear =-]

The cloudiness is normal and shouldn't hurt anything, however your tank could cycle again, which could hurt your fish. As you are using the old water, rock, sand etc. you'll probably be ok or just have a small cycle if any. i added another 50lbs of sand to my tank a couple weeks ago and it was cloudy for about 2 1/2 days. I think some hermits may have gotten an early burial but that's the extent of my problems.
How long was the 30 going?

Umm i would guess about 5-6 months, around.... if the fish die in this tank not the end of the world not like i have 5 angles in there =-], But i have like a 4-6 inch ciniman clow, 2 long ten, yellow head gobie, sailfine tang(big from others iv seen) and a few small fish, also a flowerpot(green), and a sunburst..... thats what i had in the 30 and got it the 55 now...
