Government stupidity

So the pinheads here in Colorado decide to create a standard for releasing groundwater into a section of the Platte river. The standard is .02 micrograms of arsenic per liter. The idiots who created the standard acknowledge you can't even measure arsenic levels below 1 micrograms per liter.
Because the impossible standard the state department of transportation is having to truck water they are pumping out of a excavation project in Denver to a different section of the same Platte river to discharge it there. And on top of that they are having to release that same amount of water into the river in Denver from fire hydrants to make up for the groundwater they are hauling down stream
You can't make this crap up

Your thread title is redundant.
How many jobs were saved or supported? Several water truck drivers, from the sound of it.

Yeah, they have to make like 242 trips if memory serves. Just amazing. This isn't the first instance I've heard of a government agency creating a standard that can't be scientifically confirmed.

many government locals are actually adding ammonium to the tap water now. because the water piping might build up bacteria. to counter act the bacteria the add ammonium. i wonder how tank crashes this has caused.

I have an additional carbon filter to handle Chlorimines already. Going yo end up being accused of having a crack lab in the basement if I have to keep adding filters.

lol in college I had a cop ask about the "lights" coming out of my bedroom... He was impressed at the 200 gallon tank.

Guy that ran the only reef store in the town I lived in in Montana had a couple detectives sound him about the home made protein skimmer in the back of his pick up.

There is an even better example of this kind of government counter-intuity. I bought a new Freightliner in 2001 that had a 475 hp Detroit engine and it got 7.1-7.5 mpg. While that may seem terrible for cars and light trucks, it was almost 2 mpg better than my 97 Freightliner with a 425 hp Detroit. Well, in 2002 the Feds said there was too much soot being released in diesel exhaust, so they mandated lower soot emissions. Sounds great right? Well, there are two ways to achieve this: 1) EGR-exhaust gas recirculation. 2) Spraying some kind of fluid on the exhaust to trap the exhaust so it can be burned in a catalytic converter. When I was shopping for a truck in 2003, the exact same model truck/engine/transmission/rear end truck now got 5-5.2 mpg. The net removal of soot was far more than offset in lost fuel economy. Meaning there is more exhaust and soot being discharged by each truck, but it is a smaller percentage so the EPA has claimed a victory. Think about it, it has cost hundreds of billions of $ to have MORE pollution put in the air and made us MORE dependent on foreign oil.

Emissions laws are stupid. Not having them but the way they set the standards. If you can remove the converter from a 5 passenger sedan and increase the mileage from 19 to 35 MPG are you polluting more or less?
