Thanks rick. Steve irwin was unlucky and he did something he shouldn't have by pulling out the barb out of his heart.

The rays in that area are like little puppy dogs. They've had a couple of aggressive rays that were habitants of that sand bar, and they ended up taking their barbs out so they couldn't "hit" someone. They rarely venture off the sand bar because there's so many tourist feeding them on a daily basis, they have no reason to leave.

Just south of that sand bar there's a massive flower garden that used to be home to several morays. You could get down to them with a snorkel, and the guides would entice them out with chicken parts.

I did see they were doing something while snorkeling but my wife was too busy taking pictures and I couldn't leave her lol.
I have a damaged liver so I can't drink for a while. :/
