Grape Caulerpa in Main Tank

Hi,
I've just added grape caulerpa in main tank. I was wondering if anyone have had any experience on these macroalgae....specifically....
1. Do they release toxins that may be detrimental to marine fishes?
2. Do they really grow like weeds or can be kept in control by pruning every two weeks?

I removed my grape from my main tank because I noticed it was going sexual and releasing a greenish fluid into the tank. It also grows a bit wild. Just keep trimming it.
