great color on pics

is there a secret to getting great color in your pictures...i have a 8 mega pixs camera... and i can't or don't get the color alot if not most people get...or is it that you have mh lights and i don't...any advice would be great...

The megapixels have nothing to do with the color balance of your pics. Color representation in your pictures have everything to do with the color temperature of your lighting and the white balance setting in your camera.
The manual for your camera should give you an idea of what preset color temperatures you can set and should give you instructions on how to set it manually.
Generally, manual white balancing involves pointing your camera at a known white object and either capturing an image or having the camera set the white balance.

thanks, i worked in tv for 20 years but dont know crap about stills except what would make a good pic...i tried to white balance in the tank but it wouldn't take...so i will look in the book...thanks
