Trying to form some beneficial green algae and not having the best of luck, have some spots of dark dark green undersides of some rocks and a spot of very light green in one area but in terms of the tank as a whole havent had much luck...tank is up and running for 4 months (fully cycled) have had some trouble with red slime but have for the most part under control, and am using purple up to help with coraline.....is there anything else i can do? :thinking:
using power compact (250watts 36g bow) fish only....about 35lbs live rock/sand....

What type of algae are you trying to grow?? Most people don't want ANY type of green algae growing in their tanks, unless it is green coralline and there really isn't anything you can do to get that, it just comes in on LR and either grows or it doesn't.
If you want Macro algae to grow then you usually have to buy it from the store, I personally don't recommend growing Macro in the display tank, I prefer a refugium.
