I have a similar problem. I tried going with actinic lighting only and I got a lawnmower blenny.. seems to be getting some of it but only time will tell.. would love to hear other suggestions!

Sea hare, Lawnmower blenny, Dwarf Angelfish, tangs of any type, all are green algae eaters. Seriously, they love to eat that stuff. In a 180g you can have what you want.

Thanks. I'm looking at tangs since I have a good size lionfish.

Be quick, green algae grows fast and gets out of hand in a matter of days. The fsh like it best when it is short and tender. An urchin will eat it up too.

And so you solved for the symptoms with the algea eaters, but the cause is still there. Check your nitrates, and phosphates. Perhaps its a dead zone and nutrients and waste are building on the rocks, and it has a nice spot to grow on. How old are the lights, and what is the temp. of the bulbs?
