Green Algae in Red Sea Max 30 gallon

Having problem getting rid of green algae. I have a 30gallon red sea max and changed water 15% weekly and salinity is .20-.25 I use tap water and use the chlorine remover and primer. I keep the lights on timer for 8hrs per day. I was told if i use reverse osmosis water it would solve the problem any other suggestions? Thanks.

RODI would possibly help.. tap water depending on the trace nutrients in it can cause havok...
have you asked for the annual readings from your local PUD? to find out what all is in the water?
tested ammonia, trites and trates before you use the remover and prime ???
and normally (if you dont have any corals) your salinity should be about .28ppm though this probably isnt affecting it
