i just changed my 55 gallon tank to a 75 with all new aragonite sand. After about 4 days the green algae started to cover my glass. Now its covering everything! I clean the glass and it grows back in no time! What can I do to get rid of this algae? All of the fish, anemone, and corals are doing good. nitrates 10
ammonia 0 ph 8.2
I have a seacolone 100 skimmer, canister filter and 2 power heads :help:

Im using distilled water and Ive tested it and it looks ok.
Could it be the new sand is trying to cycle?

Not to my knowledge. Did you use the same 55g water?
I have used new sand in a tank and did not have this problem.

I used about 15 gallons of the old water and the rest was all new distilled water. I had crushed coral in the old tank, and my nitrates were a little higher in the old tank, but I never had an algae problem at all. I have 30 turbo snails and 10 nassarius snails coming tomorrow.

Do you have water flowing on the portions of the tank with cyano growing? You may want to trade those 350gph powerheads for twice as many 150 or 170gph ones. That's just my opinion though.

I have 1 powerhead on each side and the canister filter outlet in the middle and water is moving really good. Dont seem to have any dead spots. I used the same water in my other tank and never had an algea problem. Could I need another protein skimmer or a bigger one?
