my 120 gallon has been running about 3 months since I moved.
over the past month or so,my live rock is becoming thick with green algae.
tank is 24x24x48 with 2x56 watt actinic and 2x 56 watt daylight t5`s with separate reflectors.
would reducing bulbs help? lights run from 10am to 10 pm.
I use a ge twin cartridge filter for the tank water. any ideas would be great!

you don't need the lights on that long gerry. 8 hours is plenty enough. Try that for awhile and see how that helps. I know that helped me before.

When you say twin cartridge, do you mean the hang-on-the back filter? What is your flow rate? You want to turn the water column at least 15x the size of the tank. IMO filtration could be the problem. I'm running close to the same(2x65) on a 55gal, 12hrs on the anthics and 8hrs on 12,000k daylights. I wish I could add 250w MH to get SPS corals and more growth overall, so I don't think its your lights.
