My boss keeps getting green algae all over his sand at his home tank. There is no direct sunlight and he uses 110 watt PC for lighting. He says he hardly turns the lights on...He uses the same RO water we use in our tanks at work/school that dont have any green algae. Any ideas?

May want to check out the age of the lights as well. As they age they sometimes intesitify their output at spectrums algeas prefer.
As broomer said look for sources of phosphate/nitrate as in food source, length of time between water changes.
