My 55 gal has been set up now for a couple of months now it's got a current usa 216w t-5 light, about 20pounds of live rock, a couple fish and just a couple small coarls. I getting nothing but green algea, It started out brown then I cleaned it up, then it came back but green this time. I cleaned it up again and next day it's back. I'm using tap water after aging for 24hours. I'm not sure what to do! I'm afraid it's going to start hurting the system. I have 2 power filters and a skimmer. I'm scrubbing this tank everyday, Any advise Please! It's driving me nuts

It could be a lot of this... is there any phosphates in the tank?
Are you fiding to much?
How long are your lights on for and how old are the bulbs?
Did something die in the tank lately and you could find the body?
If you could provide us with the water spec's we could probably help you more?

Don't have a Phos test yet, The lights are brand new a couple weeks old now. I leave the lights on about 12 hours a day. Nothing died in the tank everybody accounted for. It builds up again next day.

Algea is essentually a primitive plant, and like any plant it thrives when nutrients are abundant. Find the source of the nutrients and remove it once all the remaining "plant food" in your tank has been used up without introducing anymore the algea should decrease and eventually be gone completely.
If I were to make an educated quess, I would say the source is your tap water. Tap water is loaded with phosphates and other compounds that feed your algea, combined with light and you have created a perfect enviroment for it. I strongly suggest a RO/ DI unit for any water added to your tank.
