cut back on the lights a bit until it gets better
also maybe you are feeding them too much

Be patient. It will go away EVENTUALLY! I have been fighting it for 5 months. Finally making progress. I agree with tuningvis cutting back on the lights on time helps.

i also have brown algae in my tank. i read somewhere on this forum that it happens to all tanks when it starts and it will go away eventually

What do you have for a cleanup crew? If it's undersized, adding to it will help.

No clean up crew yet just a scooter blenny and a clownfish

you need a cleanup crew
that should have come before your fish

approx 1 snail or hermit crab per gallon, and it will help out alot!
