Added a green Brittle Star to my reef the other day, from here, very spunky, much more than my red serpent star, are they know to be more aggressive?, the only fish that he would be in his size range are Damsels, can he catch these guys?

They say it is possible for serpent stars & brittle stars to catch and eat fish but I have never seen it in 15years of reefkeeping. I always had serpent stars in my reefs.

I had a problem when I had a green brittle star. I couldn't keep any small, slow fish (especially Mandarins). Since he has been gone...no problems. But a lot of people have no problems with them, so I guess it depends on the starfish.

They are known predators in the wild, and have been reported to eat a variety of things in captivity. Not all will, but some will no doubt take advantage of other tank mates.

I could not keep a Mandarin when I had it. Other fish would dissapear as well. Since I got rid of him, I have added a flame hawk, Mandarin and a Regal Tang and they are still there! :)

the devils triangle of the reef, mysterious fish losses, sounds like my carpet anemone, never caught in the act, but always looks guilty:mad:
