green/brown algae

here's a question:
i'm still in my cyling period, but i have some green/brown algae growing on my sand and a piece of pvc in my tank. what should i do?

The brown algae is probably diatom and is perfectly normal. It should go away over time. I didn't get any green algae in my tank until I added live rock. Also algae brown and green non-coralline algaes use phosphate and silicate as sources for growth. Don't sweat it to much, algae blooms happen during the cycling process and will slow after cycling is complete. You can check your phos and sislicate levels if you want. Also don't leave your light on for more that 10-12 hours a day and that will help some too.
