well, i came across this awesome specimen last weekend.. i have some very dull brown/green with rose tips BTA's but saw this NEON green BTA that i needed to have...
he came with his own rock, but after the first day when the lights went out he moved himself behind my rocks.. so he's between the glass and a rock now and has been for a week.
is this pretty typical behavior? and him just getting accustomed to the tank? or not?
i tried to move the rock and turn it around but then my island looks bad so i put it back...
suggestions? or do i just wait?

It will move around trying to get used to the tank and it will pick a place that it likes. Dont try to force and move him.

If it only has been a week since you bought it, leave it alone for a week. Most likely, it will slowly move out from the rocks to a place where there is good light. It knows it needs the light but if it does go inside a rock and stays there after that 1 week then you can try to flip the rock so that it is getting light. I would just let him be right now for the time being.

Pretty much normal behavior for any BTA, just give him a couple of weeks. If he doesnt move then try changing the movement of the water, ie adjusting power heads, or re aquascaping. Just try to keep the water quality as best as you can.

TO give you and idea, I had one that settled behind the rocks. I let him set for 2 weeks, then 3. I tried moving him with a powerhead but he did not budge. He did end up dying before I could save him.
Now I bought another one. He came out for 1 day then back under the rock. He is doing the same thing the other one did. It has been 2 weeks this past Sunday. No movement. I have a powerhead on him for the past 2 days but he just hangs on tighter and does not move. Anemones are a pain in the but to get them adjusted. I hope this one makes it. I am going to redue some rocks tonight and see how he likes that?

one thing in my favor for his living is i got enough light getting to him and i still can feed him (i dont have the great reef wall most have)...
i'm hoping he's not happy back there though.

Yeaqh its a pain in the butt when its not in the center where you can see the anemone and show it off! My anemone was on the side but i changed the flow a bit and now he is right in the center of my tank where I can see him and feed him easily. :) My clown is hosting it too although his second favorite place to host is the elegance coral! hehe
