I bought a green carpet 2 weeks ago it was good in color, like highlighter green. I was feeding it every 3 days.. it was eating well and then tuesday it just stoped eating so i just let it be. then last night it was tearing on one side and looked almost like it was splitting but when i woke up it was just mush... i checked all my tank levels, everything was perfect and was at 1.021... i dont know why it died, anyone have any ideas? all i have is a chromis, a sleeper, and a yellow head goby.

What type of lighting do you have ? How long has the tank been setup ? What exactly are your tank levels ? Do you have a iodine/iodide test kit ? 1.021 is not "perfect" .

Salinity need to be 1.025 or 1.026 for all inverts and coral, that alone probably killed it. How are you testing salinity?

Dual PC"s?....How much wattage are we talking..
The SG was prolly the main factor in its demise, But I really doubt you have enough PCs to support a Carpet..

i think your salinity was to low, esp. for inv. i keep ours at 1.025 and every thing does very well. do you use hydrometer or refractometor, to check salinity?

Your salinity levels are ok for fish but way too low to support any inverts. I keep mine at 1.025 and all is well.
It is a tough lesson to learn but if you are going to keep inverts or have others in the tank you really need to gradually increase it by topping off with saltwater instead of RO water on a daily basis until it gets into the proper range before you even think of adding anything else.
Not to be mean but to add them at those levels is cruel.
