wwhy would this be turned upside all the time, even at the LFS, it was upside down, i got it real cheap. is it dead

upside down is usually a bad thing, if it is not making any attempt to right itself, it is probably not doing well. carpets can be difficult to keep. Is it all sucked in or is it still open, just upside down? Good luck.

can you provide a teeny-weeny rock wall around it? Thats assuming thats its on the bottom of the tank. It might be the current that is flipping it over.
