green chromis missing scales

I have a 46 gal tank with 3 green chromis, a clown, yellow tang, blue-legged hermits and 3 snails. Yesterday when I turned my light on I noticed 1 of the chromis had what looked like a cut on it's side almost like it rubbed off it's scales and it looks raw. It doesn't look like a bite but I'm wondering if it may be a disease or something? Please help he seems to be fine eating and swimming just a pink spot on it's side. :help:

how old is your tank? the other chromises might have been beating up on him, also get that yellow tang out of there , if you dont it will die

The other chromis maybe be beating up on him as stated above. However, all the chromis i've seen lately in the area have had some sort of bacterial infection where it starts out like they're missing scales and turns into a red sore where they have lost the scales, and eventually they die.

:help: My tank is almost 4 months old. I haven't seen any aggression at all really it doesn't seem like a bite either. Why should I get tang out of there what's the problem? I don't understand

He said to take the tang out b/c he thinks the tank is too small for tang and your tank isnt established enough. I have 4 green chromis in my 125 and some beat up each other, just a little fin nipping havent seen them take scales off each other. but like i said it may be a bacterial infection.

That's strange my lfs seems to really know what he is doing and he said the tang would be fine? He said that they were hardy fish and never said anything like my tank would be too small. Now what do I do? Should I take the chromis and the tang out? The tang seems fine eating, swimming, not aggressive

The worst part is I do not have a QT tank :( I know I should but it's getting very expensive. I do have a small tank and a cheap heater and the filter I started with "bio wheel" which I later found out was for a fresh water tank but would probably work just fine for a QT tank. Right? I really do not know much about staring a QT tank if you could give me any advice I'd be willing to try!

leave the tang alone. he will be fine for now until he outgrows the tank. you need to set up a qt. you dont want w/e the problem is w/ the one chromis to the rest of your fish. there are ALOT of very informational threads on this site about how to properly set up and cycle a qt. i believe in the disease forum or faq forum, but i could b wrong

I think the chromis looks better today seems like the cut or what ever is getting smaller do you think that means it is a bite or cut, and not a disease?

I don't know what is going on with my chromis His "cut" was getting smaller but now I'm noticing that his other side is getting like that! :( What do I do? it is possible that my clown is picking on him but I'm not sure I noticed the clown going after the chromis's last night but didn't actually see him bite them it looked like he was trying though. I just want to know if I should remove him from the tank cause the last thing I want is for my other fish to get sick cause of one green chromis!
