Reef Blend is good, but the Goni will not really eat it. Thats Phytoplankton...mostly for softies, sponges Turnicates, feather dusters. it will also feed Zooplankton whick will feed the Goni. I would get the Oyster eggs.

I would have to agree w/ babyb, I had one and it only lasted eight months. From what I have read and heard they live in the muddy silty areas of the waters that they inhabit. Which is not what we have in our reef tanks.

So far I have gone 3 months problem free with no recession and i fact has grown slightly.... But who knows what can happen from here too a few months down the line.. I also have one that was bleached and is now helping it recover with positive signs of zooxanthellae and regaining its true color. I can only dream for the current time that I wil be able to bring it back to its natural color before anf if it decides to kick the bucket.

Nice goniopora! How many times are you feedin' it a week? What type of lighting do you have? I'd stick with DT's...it works really well for all my corals. You might want to try a little mysis shrimp or you could try Pyto-Feast; which is basically the same as DT's but it's thicker and smells worse. hahaha. My goniopora loves mysis shrimp. Good luck!

If you have room put the goniopora as close to the lights as possible. They like light. I believe that might be your biggest problem with the goniopora. You probably already know this but they like to be spot fed. I saw another type of food that corals love yesterday at my lfs but I forgot the name of it. I'll give it to ya when I find out. When are you switchin' over to the 38? Gonioporas don't last as long without high lighting.

Another question, If a goniopora develops holes int he skeleton, or dead spots, can they ever grow tissue back?

I keep mine under medium-high because thats the only place i have for it in my tank, but i think they do best in medium-low flow generally on the sandbed.
(IMO)

Haven't looked at this thread in awhile. Sorry 'bout that. Goniopora's will regrow their lost tissue. I keep mine in the middle of my tank with medium water flow. How is your Goniopora zanoshanox? Hope it's doin better!
