Green hair algae... Phos react, protein skim? both? ? ? ? ?

curious on what you all think. I have a green hair algae problem. My nitrates are 40 nitrites ammonia zero. ... running light 7 - 8 hours a day and can't get a grip. lfs told me if i'm worried solely on green hair to get a phos reactor with phos sponge or something and this will take all the phos out of the water which will in return kill the green hair. Do i need a protein skimmer also to help with nitrates? Grrr I have a healthy size cleanup crew but they just don't seem to be doin the job. What about that turf algae filter homeade deal that was posted. Will this be the ticket? It all looks and sounds good on paper. Thanks in advance

any of the things u mentioned will help. r u using ro water during water change? buying any of the equipments u said will cost u more $$$$$. i'd recommend getting a skimmer and a dolabella sea hare. the sea hare will clean up ur hair algae within a week, and is reef safe.

I have used one for quite sometime. Hmmmm. Have you heard of that algae scrubber filter or whatever it's callled? Do you know anyone who has used it. I have some screen on the way and thought i might do one of those. Maybe that and a skimmer? Hmmmph I just know all this hair algae makes me wanna

I had a terrable hair algea problem. After scrubbing rocks, walls, and water changes, I just could not get rid of it towards the bottom of the tank. I set up a phosband reactor and a good skimmer two weeks ago, and almost all the rest of the algea is gone. I still have a few patches here and there, but its going away.
