GREEN HAIR ALGAE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got an out break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any ideas on how to get rid of it or control it? I've put an urchin and emerald in, any other suggestions???? Oh, bulbs are only a month old, water parameters are good, fish are healthy.

Reduce the source of the nutrients that the hair algae feeds on. Use RO/DI water. Feed less. Light less. Rinse your foods in RO/DI or even tap water.

try the mexican turbo snails. reduce feeding as stated above. if this is a fairly new tank, its part of the cycle. try siphon it off during water change too.

+1... if possible, take rock out and scrub it off with a NEW tooth brush, shorten the use of your lights to half your normal time, or better yet just off for a day then half the your normal time until it clears up. Typically, emeralds will go over it and pick off the little strands but when the algea gets to long they avoid it. Hope this helps ya.
