any suggestions for this in my reef tank other than removing rock and scrubbing it off i have blue hermits and a coral beuaty that feeds on it but still growth is fast are there any invert that like to graze on it? :happyfish
Snails seemed to work the best for me, although cleaning your rock will give them a big head start. Lot of work but worth it. You need to find out why you have algea, lights feeding. Stoping it before gets out of hand is always best.
I had a problem with it for a while. Turns out that my phosphates were pretty high...I was overfeeding. I've cut back on the food...the algae is disappearing as well. Also, I put a phosphate sponge in my sump for a short period of time...that helped a lot. How much of the Algae does your Coral Beauty eat? I just picked one up yesterday.
You have high phosphates. Do you use RO/DI water? If not, do so. Also use a phosphate remover. "Rowa Phos" is the best; Seachem's "phosguard" works well too.
