Green looking polyps?

Ok, I do not know what these are and maybe they are normal I don't know. I got tired of my cyano and green algea problem so I cleaned the heck out of my tank. Pulled rocks and cleaned them in a bucket of salt water from the tank, cleaned and vacuumed the CC and the back wall. All clean and pretty now but I noticed on my large rock that I did not pull out of the tank that I have a small growth of about 7 little green polyps. Likes to me like a plant growing almost like when you see a plant come out of a seed and it is just a tiny little green plant coming out. Does anyone know what this is? Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance.

i believe your algae problems came from the tap water you used previously to fill your tank. dont feel bad i did the same as you, never again. the green polyps i would not worry to much about. i would say do not use anymore tap water, check your phos level, maybe add chemipure elite or rowaphos that what i did and guess what no more algae problems. just keep reading this site and ask questions. everthing i have read here has been right on the money.

Tap water does NOT cause algae, with proper maint., your tank should stay algae free. It is very common for new tanks to go through a algae bloom. Just stay on top of those water changes!
However, if it is a reef tank, then you really should use RO/Di water.
I use tap water in my 125g aggressive, with a heavy bio-load and have NO algae problems.

You are my friend one of the few that have good enough tap water to use and not cause problems.
I think people that make this statement should always put this disclaimer in there that having no problems with tap water is not the norm and you should use it with caution. I would go as far as to say test the water first or get the test results from the local water department.

I am sure that my bloom came from the tap water. As soon as I find a phosphate test kit I will test. I am treating with Kent Marine Phosphate sponge in my filter to be proactive. Tank is clean now and I may have been overfeeding and have changed that also. I was just concerned with the green polyps that sprang up. They look harmless, just like little plants growing.
