When I saw a green Spotted puffer at the fish store I wanted one so bad! And I wanted a freshwater tank so it seemed perfect! But the guy told me that they don't do as well in freshwater as they would in salt he pointed to some of the sickly ones and said thatw was why. When they're young they can live in freshwater, but they don't have a good chance of survival. He also told me which I read online later on, that the green spotted puffers eat the fins off of other fish. Adding 1 plus 1 together I realized that green spotted puffers wern't the fish for me! And later on when I couldn't find any freshwater fish that looked as nice as saltwater I got a saltwater tank!

yeah i'd say just go with SW. they were a hassle getting back to health from the crappy condition they were in from being in FW so long. but once i had them at brackish (1.015). i held them there for a month and then carried out to full SW. they just do better because they spend most their natural lives along the coasts. but it takes a long time to do the conversion in a healthy way. also they are messssssyy they poop and eat enough for 5fish. you need to have at least 2x the filtration then normal. i have a 20gal with 2 GSPs that has the filtration that you'd put on a 55gal. so they take a lot of work and need a variety diet too
