That depends on your tank, but yes they grow fast and can get out of control. They don't grow as fast as Xenia, but can spread pretty quickly.

I have a small colony that started the size of a dime, and after six months was the size of half of a dollar bill. You can even intentionally superglue them to your wall or glass and they will grow there, giving a great looking background.

GSP's are one of the weeds of the reefing world. I started off with a single, small rock about a year ago and now I several rocks that are totally encrusted and some of the rocks are 8" around

I had my for about two weeks and they starting speading to a trumpet I had about 2 inches away, now 4 wks later they ran all the way up the trumpet and my poor trumpet can't grow fast enough to get out of their way. So had to move my trumpet but I think it's to late, there are mini stars all over it now.
