everyone's tank is different. when gsp takes off, it can grow pretty fast. they need medium light and flow to thrive, along with good water quality.

Just my $.02....
Take the frag back to your LFS and when they are not watching, superglue it in their SPS tank.
GSP is truly a great looking coral. Containing it is the problem. When your new, it's all exciting to watch it every day and check it's progress. Next thing you know, you really haven't been watching as much as you used to.....and it's grown across half your rockwork. Another couple weeks and it'll be creeping down the hallway. 2-3 more days and you'll be shaving it off your face in the morning. YYYaaaahhhhrrrgghhhhh.....
Other than that....try to keep it to 1 rock in the middle of the sand. Jus' sayin'.

Somehow mine has been contained, but I have no idea how. I only see a few polyps here and there. Xenia is another story.

My gsp is one of my original corals and one of my favorite (3 yrs old now). It spread quickly over the rock I put it on. Every now and then a piece will grow straight off the rock, I cut it and glue it to another rock to trade.
It has survived 2 tank crashes in the past 3 years, it receded and I wasn't sure it was going to make it, but it came back just as good.
It has never spread off the rock I have it on. Maybe my surronuding corals keep it in place, not sure.

But I say keep it and enjoy!

Exactly, every tank is different. Some tanks it is a nuisance, some tanks it is pretty coral. Just watch it.
