hey i was at my favioit lfs yesterday and i was looking to start adding coral, i found a small pice of green star polyp and they told me it grew fast and would be good to cut up and trade for money to help me with my hobby :p. well anyways i was wondering how is the groth rate on this thing. i put it on the top of a pice of LR, they all opened up and look good. they are in my 14 gal bio cube

It grows extremely fast, at least in my tank. I have way too much and most LFS's around me won't trade for it. Too abundant. Nice coral though.

Grows fast, I love the look and color of it. If you have it on a rock and that rock does not touch any other rock it will just stay there and you can control it that way. That is what I have done.

Usually grows fast, but is easy to control by cutting the mat between polyps and removing portions. I traded some for shrooms a while back. Some LFS will give you credit for it and some won't. Depends on the store and if they are able to sell it. It is easy to keep and does not sting, but may wage chemical warfare on certain other corals. (thanks NEReef) Mine recently killed a nearby patch of xenia in this manner. This colony is 18" across and 14" deep. It was smaller than your fist 18 months ago. It has been trimmed back twice. Once removing a pretty big chunk.

i have a 24 aquapod right now and when i bought it it had a rock with some of it in there and in less than a year it engulfed a rock that was 10"x5" and it is growing on the rest of the rock i still have
