Were they out when you bought them? Did they look like GSP?:notsure:
They sound like they are, but you really look at what your buying. Don't take that bad, it was not meant as a poke.

Its hard to see what they are, the guy said they are green star polyps and you have to look at the corals from above the tank, not only that my mom was yelling at me to hurry up, they look just like GSPs but they have little bristles on the side of the arms, very little bristles, i still love how they look but im kinda ticked that the guy would lie to me.

The pic you show are indeed typical GSP. I thought they could be clove polyps but i don't think those have a purple mat._I looked in my "Aquarium corals" book by Borneman, and on pg 119 it shows what i think you are discribing. They ARE GSP but not like typical smooth tenticles, they are feather like or fuzzy, he also calls these GSP. Do yours have a whiteish vein in each tenticle? That is what is pctured in the book. I'm sure there are other variations of GPS than the standard smooth type. HTH

There are two types that i have one type does have a white vein on each teanticle but the one i am talking about is pure green except for the brown "bristles". Each type is on seperate rock and they both have a purple mat.

Cloves grow on runners. I had star polyps, the whitish/gray ones, and they had small hair like things on them. It may be normal depending on where they come from. But not really sure.:notsure:

Possibly xenia? A pic would help, but thats the only thing I can think of that would have "hairs/bristles". I'd love to know.

I'm pretty sure you just have a slightly different variety of GSP. Most corals in this hobby are given a common name that actually describes many more than one species or variety of coral. Sometimes hundreds of different species of coral are still lumped together under one common name. Unless you dislike the extra fuzzies, count yourself lucky to have a less common variety. As for care, treat them just like you would the more common "----" GSP.
EDIT: The only other option is that it could be an encrusting gorgonian. If your coral lacks the trademark central disc (like the circular center part of a daisy) then my guess is that's what you have. Most GSP have a dark purple mat (though I have one that is more of a pink). The encrusting gorgonian that resembles GSP has a lighter color mat, about the color of coraline algae and no central disc. Does this sound like what you have?

They definitely sound like GSP's...and to a degree I understand the frustrations with the current attachment limitations! I assure you I will once again request a change to the file limits.:happyfish

I would almost definatly say they are gsps. The ones that are commonly sold as "metalic" will have the little bristle looking polyps.Mine are like that.I usually don't see too many of the so called smooth ones around my parts. And,yes they do have a purple mat.

No problem NMreefer, no hard feelings, i understand its your job to keep the posts clean.
just messin' with ya Carole.
Krishj39, I'm treating them as i would any other coral, i was just mad that my computer was crashing.
And nope there not an ecrusted gorgonian, At my LFS those go for about 50 bucks, and i got my GSPs for 20, To bad it wasent one, it would have been a killer deal, yet agien if it was it would die right away.
Thanks Melody, now i know im not crazy...... @(**)@ <-- MONKEY!!!:D
Thanks chinnyr now i know what kind i have!!
Thanx everyone

be prepared.....they are going to spread like weeds. Beautiful though, looks like flowing wheat fields. I infact have the same variety that you speak of. For anyone interested in a trade, i have plenty to send out.
