Green Star Polyps, pull and cut?

Hi everyone. I have a large patch of green star polyps. I was wondering if I could peel back the skin? and cut it with a razor blade? Do I need gloves? And I already read about the super glue! I might do the rubberband if I can get enough to peel away, like atleast a 6 inch strip of it. But, Is this correct? The peeling and cutting method?
