Green Star Polyps

salty tank

I just bought green star polyps a week ago. For the last week they have been doing great until now. The lights are on and they are not opened. I only have 2.9 watts per gallon but the polyps are on the highest rock which in about 9 inches away from the lights.
Do i feed these things?
Could there be somthing wrong with the water?

Not 100% on this, but I don't think you feed them. I've never fed mine. Could be water, might wanna check calcium levels among the normal things.

my green stars will close/retract once about every two weeks or so but they wont stay closed for longer than eight hours. I spot feed mine phytoplankton once a week and then zooplankton once a week. they have doubled in size in about five months. I do have MH lighting on a 55 gal and the polyps are on the bottom of the tank.
What are your water parameters?

I guess I'll stop trying to feed them then, they're just doing so well I figured it was helping.
Thanks for the info ViPer!

Eric Borneman said that GSP are one of only a couple corals in the whole world that likely eat nothing at all.
