Green tint in Water

Did the fish that died have any spots or any other signs of disease on them when they died? I know your post is about green water, but the quantity of fish you have had die worries me. It might be a disease that stayed in the water. Were there any spots on the fish or did they stop eating or act funny in any other way? DId you see the anemone act aggressively towards any of them? Watch the anemone for signs of aggression, if you see any, get rid of it, either give it to a fellow hobbyist or give it to a pet store. HTH

NP ... I'll keep u posted and my fingers crossed...The vortex filter w/ charge powder and char-mix cleared my tank last night/this morning. So far my tang likes the shaving brush. My c/c starfish does also...I had to pry him off of one.I moved it away from the L/R and he leaves it alone now.

sounds like progress. My shaving brushes developed white whiskers but are turning green again.

We emptied our tank to start over and found a few of the fish dead right below the purple anenome. He stayed in the back behind the L/R.After seeing the fish under him that explained why he hardly ever ate the food I put on him.

Sorry to hear about the person that had all the fish that died. Did you check the water quality at the time of death to see if it was in safe levels? Could something toxic gotten into the tank? If you are new to this hobby did you read up on proper care, stocking levels and proper water changes etc. ? I am sure that you may be able to find out what happened. This hobby is not that difficult if you read up on the proper care. A great all inclusive book to help you start again on the right track is "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert M. Fenner. A lot of people on this board recommend it.
Also if you are new to this hobby did you cycle the tank for a month or two and add stock very slowly? Also did you properly cure any live rock? Lesley

My water was perfect. Most fish we noticed missing but never could find. Our purple anenome worked his way to the backside of the rock but we never suspected him of killing until our LFS told us about his which swam all over his tank searching for prey. We restarted our tank and in doing so found 3 fish right below our purple anenome.
There were no spots or anything on them. Most of our L/R come precured and we cured the few pieces we got from our LFS because he didn't know anything about it.We just now started adding corals. Our toughest fish is our marroon clown and snowflake eel. We're just assuming that it was the P/A since the dying has stopped.

I question that your anenome killed your fish and they were laying on the sand underneath the anenome. Usually if an anenome kills a fish, it's eating it. I could be that you find the dead fish there because that is the area the current took them to. When did you use the paint thinner and other things on the tank? Was it before you set it up? I'm wondering if you haven't gotten some chemical in there. You say the anenome now died. There could be toxic chemicals in your tank that are not normal things we test for. Just another thought on what might be causing your problems.

I used the paint thinner recently and put a little on a rag and rubbed the lower part of the back.We have a starfish that was working w/ the anenome and they both loved the back of the tank. Now the anenome is gone and fish are still living my cc starfish comes out more.
