Green Tip Acropora help - ebay experence

out on a limb

This was the most awful experience I could think of. I ordered a Green Tipped Acropora from an ---- auction. The guy said he was moving and selling the contents of his tank.
It arrived in a 5 GAL BUCKET of FREEZING water. The coral is totally bleached except for one small patch of green so I acclimated it anyway hopping I MIGHT could save this poor thing. It is in my tank now but I was wondering if this is futile? (I’m pretty sure it is)
The guy is blaming UPS saying they repackaged it after destroying the Styrofoam box he had it in. After I got mine I checked his feedback again (all was good before) and 2 others (shipments from different days) posted the same results. Any way the guy is refusing a refund. UPS says that did not happen by the way.
Please let me know if there is any hope.
L.J.

who was it on ----? whats his/hers name/---- login name? Were there heat packs in the box? I think the only thing you can do is hope and see what happens with it. Keep it under MH lighting and hopefully it is strong enough to recoop...but most likely, if it was in freezing water than it'll be tough to come back.

No it was just a bucket with water the coral was in a zip lock bag just thrown in a bucket of water.
Very sad, don't understand it was very nice. But it dosent make since that UPS would have to "repack (the same way) different shipments as this guy says. <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" /> <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" /> <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

I've seen many auctions on ---- lately for live corals and was wondering if the person on the other end was responsible enough to send it properly.
I'm sure there are some who are but I guess others are not.

ya, i'm sure there are some people who do not send it resonsibly. I just sent my large green carpet anemone on ---- and it went fine and i got very good feedback. I spent a lot of money on keeping it warm and snug in the box! I have also bought many corals on ---- from sindacate, he was very good! He even gave me a 1/2 off next coral cause one arrived dead... every other time it arrived fine. But of course, some sellers care, and some don't. You never said who it was? I'm curious

Sorry about your expierence. But I would file a complaint with ---- as soon as possible. They will work with you in gettting your money back if the seller was at fault and apparently he was. Also if you paid via Paypal they can also recover the money for you. They are alot faster than ----. Hope this helps.

ouch...this guys feedback is real bad now! I doubt he'll be selling live corals on ---- for a long time. Anyways, sorry for your loss by this scam artist....well, sorta scam artist. it's a shame there are people that do this to other people in this world, but some people like to steal. Good luck to you and definitely demand your money back through paypal, if that's how you paid...also, ---- offers u insurance, with a $25 deductable, or something like that. There are things you can do to get ur money back... try to stop payment on the credit card, if that's how you paid. like i said before, good luck.
