Green Tip Anenome

I bought a green tip anenome yesterday at the LFS on sale for $6. It looked in graet shape there in a little pond they had a bunch of other anenomes in. The lighting was basically from the ceiling in an open area.
I bring it home and temp acclimate it in the bag for 45 min, place it in and try to maneuver it where I wanted but it kept turning over, being unbalanced. Anyhow, this thing looks as if its decomposing, getting smaller and looks in really bad shape. What did I do or not do? It looks too late to do anything for it. The underside, where the pink/red skin puffs up, is not doing that and it looks basically flat.
I have a 24g NC deluxe with stock lighting. My pulsing xenia also closed not too long after putting it in the tank.
Im not able to get any good pictures of it with either of my cameras.

i dont think ur light is enough to support a green tip anemone. most anemones will shivel up at 1st when introduced. what kind of light do u hv? the only light that'd support anemone r mh and t5, and maybe a strong pc with lots of watts.

In this hobby we have all done impulse buying, but if everyone would research and be aware of what each and everyone of our purchases need to survive and live happily in our tanks there would be a lot less death on the part of the fish, anemones, and corals and lot less sadness on our part when we loose something. I myself have impulsed bought, only to run home and research what they need. Fortunately I have been able to provide for their needs.
Now I try to research first then buy. Works out MUCH better that way.

For one your lighting is insufficient. For two I think your anemone was doomed before you even brought it home. The anemone was under no special lighting, in a tank with a bunch of other anemones, and you bought it for 6 dollars? Three red flags right there, although there are 'steals' out there for tons of products and services, people are usually selling it at a reduced prices for one reason or another - in this case they probably realize that they cannot keep anemones for longer than a few weeks in their setup, so after say two weeks if no one buys the anemone it becomes a 'bargin sale' and they reduce the prices.
Although it does suck that you've lost the anemone, i think what is going to suck more is the possibility of it fouling up your tank. Once they start to fall apart it becomes very difficult to get them out of the tank in one piece, and every piece you leave in the tank will start to decompose and create ammonia. So now you have the chance of losing anything else you have in your tank because of this spike.
I hope you have already removed it from the tank, if not and it is falling apart do so immediately.

I did remove it but am not sure how to proceed with future coral purchases with this 24g NanoCube dx lighting (I know an anemone is an invert). Should I be able to keep zoos with the stock lighting? Obviously I wont be getting another anemone. Are frogspawns and torch corals similar to anenomes in that they need the same amount of light?
Im tempted to sell the nano cube and setup the 20g long ive had sitting on the side for sometime now and buy VHO or t5 lighting for it.

the 24 nanocube should come with a 50/50 pc light if i am not mistaken. u can try softies, mushrooms and zoas with that light. with the right combo, it can look very nice.
