Green Toadstool Leather

My tank is a tall 37g and I have a 250W MH light. I thought my leather would thrive, but isn't
. For awhile it was open and beautiful however after about a week the polyps haven't came out. I've moved it to a couple different positions in the tank in an effort to get it to come back out. Currently it is not in as direct light as it had been. For awhile it was bleaching and now it seems to have gained some of its green color back, but still won't come out. Any ideas on what I should do?
I'll post pictures when I get home.

I've been told that some of the green leathers require a lot less light. Sounds like 250 MH was way too much. Try to find a shaded portion of your tank, down on the side of your rock, out from directly underneath the MH.

I would tend to agree. The green leathers really do not need that much light to do well.
Also, make sure you are giving it a nice amount of flow.

Hm, they look like apstasia on that rock. Are you sure that they are not stinging the coral and causing it to be closed?

I would go with this thoery. not only is it not sticking its polyps out it is deflated completely.

Well the deal is that it completely inflates at night (obviously because there is no light on) I moved it up to a different area just recently...it looked the same in the previous spot. The tentacles aren't actually touching my leather. I moved it under a shelf last night so we'll see how it does.

the white spots are also a sign of dead tissue. not looking so hot thats for sure.

It also doesn't have these white spots like the pic makes it seem. The pic was taken with my camera phone. There are some bleach spots because I think it was receiving too much light. I'll post pics when I go home for lunch and show you what I mean. It perks straight up at night, so it's got to be too much lighting.

How would I go about getting rid of the apstasia???
to get rid of aptasia. your best bet is 'joes juice', or you could try lemon juice or super super hot water. These applications must be squirted directly into the mouth area with a syringe minus needle.
copperbanded butterfly fish and peppermint shrimp will eat them.
but having aptasia is not a good thing they will spread and grow quickly stinging corals and fish.

How fast would peppermint shrimp eat them? I don't want any more fish. also would you take the entire rock out of the water and squirt the lemon juice into their mouth or do it in the tank?

in the tank. the anemone will close up if taken out of water. your tank will have enough buffering capacity to take the lemon juice unless you get crazy with it.

Ok so how much juice should i squirt into each mouth and how long does it take to kill them? will I have to remove them by hand or will the wither away?

a couple mLs should do it. it will take a few doses most likely. they will instantly close up. you won't have to remove them by hand; they will "wither away."
