Grounding Probe. In the display or sump/fuge?

I am in the process of setting up my 45gallon reef with 29gallon sump/fuge. I will be using a grounding probe and was wondering should it be placed in the display or in the sump/fuge. I will have heaters, aquac remora pro with mag drive, and a magdrive 9.5 return pump in the sump/fuge. The display will have 2 maxijet 900's.
Thanks

As long as the pump is running (water flow) both the MT and sump will be protected, so putting the probe in the sump is less "obtrusive"...

:notsure: about this whole grounding probe thing. i know waht it sounds like, it allows the electricity to flow in a path of lesser resistance than your body. therefore it travles through that path, but what is it exactly and how is it set up??

I would put it in the sump/refuge. That's where the concentration of equipment is and it's hidden...

A grounding probe is a titanium rod with a wire hooked to it. The rod goes into the water and the wire hooks into the ground of a receptacle.

And don't forget the need for a GFCI ...a grounding probe does NOT replace this essential piece of safety equipment...

it's just a little metal rod (about 2 or 3 inches) that plugs into the socket to cut random electricity running the tank. it is best for helping against HLLE, which is very common in tangs and angels, and is therefore VERY recommended for those types of fish in particular.
