Grown Lion Fish Question

Anyone have a mature V. Lionfish. I have had mine for about 1 1/2 years now and hes always ate alot. The last few months he eats but only about 1/4 the amount. I heard once they mature they barely eat, anyone else heard of this?? Or have a old Lion that does the same??

Mine will eat whenever I feed him, but then I don't feed him that often...
How often and how much do you feed...?
How big is the Lion...?

I've never heard of them eating less, as they get older. Mine was 9 years old and 15" long and never once slowed down, in eating.

Sorry Squidd, I didn't realize you already asked him how often he feeds his lion.
I don't feed my lion very often either, so he eats until he has a full stomach when I feed.

hey squid, can you post a pic of your lion? how big is he?

I used to feed him every other day or every 3 days. He used to eat about 6-8 silversides. Now I try to feed him every other day and he only eats 2 silversides. I have been trying to feed him daily when I feed my stingray but he'll still only eat 2 every other day.

Do you feed him anything else...? (Krill, squid, fish, shrimp, cockle, scallop)
Maybe he's just "bored" with the silversides...???
You do need to implement a variety of food choices rotated daily...

I whole-heartedly agree with that.

I try but he only likes silversides. He'll eat a few krill sometimes but thatsit,nothing else.

What are your tank parameters? (pH, kH, nitrates, specific gravity)
