GSM stirring sand cause amonia spikes?

Well, i am trying to find the cause of my amonia spike and am considering the possibilty that its my GSM that constantly "peels out" in my sand. He does it all day long so yeah, i have 6 inch sand bed in some areas and 0 in others. Can this kind of disturbance cause unstable water params?

I have the same issue... not sure if they are connected or not. But i'm definitely with you on the sand levels...
