This is what happens when your dog is big enough to reach your kitchen counters and you momentarily leave a fresh baked cake unattended.

In Fido's defense, I don't see any frosting, and those jowls could have food from 1965 in there, so I'd expect to see some remnants.
Have you checked all children and husbands as well?

I like how the frosting was licked off before the bite occured.
God love the dogs because they drive me crazy!
I have 4, the smallest weighing 75lbs.

Please you're falling for the OLDEST trick in the book, your husband did it then framed the thing that you can't get mad at, your dog.

Awww! How can ya get mad at a face like that? I bet his tongue could clean off that entire cake in less than a minute.

If that had been my golden retriever, there would be no cake left. Even if I caught him in the act he would wolf it down in less than a minute and he wouldn't even look guilty.

I am going with the husband theory. He then called the dog to come sniff the cake, which is what you saw. He looks tooooo sweet to have done it.
