Guitar People - Need your help

My dad called me and told me he picked up a used guitar. He said it was really old but couldn't tell what type it is. He drew a picture of the only thing he could find inside the sound hole. Anyone have any idea what model this is?

Looks almost like a Japanese symbol. If there isn't any markings or anything that would be my guess but if he really wants to know tell him to take it to a pawn shop. Guitars are a pretty common item for them so maybe they could tell him what it is.

since it's old, you may want to try asking someone in the vintage guitar dept. of GC, but it may simply be an independent luthier who made it.
