i have heard some of talk about guppys being brackish water fish but i have been unable to find any info on this topic, i just thought it would be interesting to have a 29 gallon mini-reef with fancy guppys in it :)so if anyone know for sure if they can be in a mini-reef or a salt tank, or even salt at all, would appreciate some help on this matter, thanks

mollies do very well in salt, i do not know about guppies, i do know if i wanted guppies tough, it owuld be in a fw tank, much less work to raise them, besides, i don't know why i would want guppies in sw with all the much more beautiful options available in sw

I agree with fshhub. Mollies like I stated before can be either or. Guppies breed too quickly even if they could be put in salt water they would just become a problem after a while. SW offers better choices.

My response poses a question and also a statement.
Question: If you wanted Guppies why wouldn't you just start a FW tank.
Statement: Like others have said they are like the bunnies of all fish. Also with their size they would also make a beautiful meal for someone in the tank I am sure.
Just my take on it.......

Guppies can tolerate some salt in their tanks, but the level would be well below brackish standards. It would be much better for you to raise them in a FW tank. If you are wanting them for feeders just start up a 20long tank for them.....you'll have plenty! ;)

Guppies can be put in saltwarer like blackmollies. Just have to let the saltwater dripp for around 2 hours to get them to the saltinity level. This is from my personell experience. I had them but went as a food for my anamone.
