Hair alage ? where and what to do ?

Hey guys hows everything doing since the big black out , Im from new york and it was dark, but my tank did well no problem.
latetly I have been getting hair alage in my tank, I tried those alage pads no big deal So what is the cause and my solution.

what are your tank readings.
nitrate and phosphates mainly and have you upgraded lights lately?

Yea I agree!!! Usuallt the problem is either poor lighting or phosphates!

Best approach to controlling unwanted algaes is to eliminate source and nutrients. For nutrients limit feedings ... insure a quality water source...have adaquate filtration and circulation...insure lighting is changed as needed.
To eliminate source is difficult if the algaes are established already but you can introoduce numerous predators that will help limit their growth...and eventually eliminate them altogether.
I've decided that some pest algaes will always be present my approach is to keep them under control and prevent them from over running my reef.
