Hair algae

My 40 gal tank has been up and running for about 4 months now, inhabitants are 2 O clowns, 2 chromis, 1 bta, 1 CC star and about 4 snails. I'm getting what I think is hair algae on my base rocks. I have around 30 lbs of LR (estimated), 2 powerheads, 1 HOB filter and a skimmer. Lighting is (I think) PC and a small powerglo fluro strip. What do I do to get rid of this before it starts taking over?

control nutrient levels. Nitrates and Phosphates are vital to hair algae so get rid of them and the algae will starve. Also you might want to get a different bulb for your light strip.. Try a light that has more of a blue/green spectrum which won't fuel the algae. Other then that try to suck up as much as you can when you change your water, maybe add some snails. Depending on tank size and what you have in it you can add some algae eatting fish that might help a little..
