Okay, so I worked hard all week and so does my wife, we come home and notice green algea and hair algea growing like it is the only thing in the tanks. (her 120gal and my 29 bio). she has a tang that should be macking down on some and some snails that are not doing anything to put a dent into it. As a matter of fact.... I think one even died from trying to eat some.
I just bought some bumble bee snails (lfs told me they would get rid of it) and so far their just cruizin around. What gives?: Soon we are going to have 2 nature aquariums!! ANY HELP OR GUIDENCE WOULD BE GRATEFUL!!!

Just the usual, more regular, possibly larger water changes with R/O D/I water (maybe need new filters) purigen, carbon, phosphate remover, sump with macro algae, manual removal and harrassment, shorter light period, possibly new bulbs, keep direct sunlight off the tank, get a surface skimmer, possibly feed less, clean detritus off rocks, get more detritus cleaning critters, if all that doesn't work, maybe a sea hare, possibly a lawnmower blenny although some don't seem to like hair algae when it is longer, they prefer film algae. .. there is probably more, but that is a start. Oh ya, pulsing xenia remove nitrates too.

Uhm.... okay, shorter light period activated two days ago. We can do more water changes and have already cut feeding, fish act as if their dying already hahaha
(spoiled rotten). Lights VERY expensive but on our wish list.
Thanks for the help, we will def. look into the others.

I think my hair algea is because of detrius on rocks. Just bought a turkey baster. Going to try that technique and see if that prevents it from coming back after I scrub it.

Unless you remove the detritus, it creates the waste, so I would suggest sucking it off with a hose during water changes instead of blowing it around and having it just get stuck in your mechanical filtration.
