I've never had any luck with adding a fish or inverts to take care of a problem. I believe its Murphy's Law or something.
My lawnmower blenny won't touch the stuff. My mexican turbos only are too selective, and my tangs (the "voracious" algae eaters) don't even like algae as far as I'm concerned.
I think all I've done is added more poop machines to the mix which only fueled the problem.
Best advice I got:
1. Control feeding
2. Control the lighting
3. Water changes
Its simple advice, and it took me forever to put it to practice. For whatever reason, I always felt like I had to add something to fix something.
