Hairlike algae and hard green deposits on glass

In my 125 gal tank with plenom system and protein skimmer I have over 100lbs live rock, purple tang, clown and carpet anemone, flame angle, brittle star, shrimp, crabs & snails the rock is being covered with hair like algae. I have cleaned rocks off and done a water change and it is back a few weeks later. The hard green deposits are about the size of a pin head or sometimes a short streak and sometime serveral close together. Unlike other algae on the glass these take much froce with a rough pad to get them off. I use R/O water and have metal halide lighting. Fish are not overfed, but I do need more snails and crabs. Just wonder if there might be other suggestions.
Thanks, David

The hard deposits on the glass could be green coralline... good to have, but if you want to scrape it off use a metal scraper. (unless your tank is acryllic) :D

I have been having a similar problem even though my water tests ok. I guess I had enough nitrate or phosphate for the algea to live. I added a fluidized bed filter and have been running carbom and a phosphate remover. My algea is slowly going away.
