half bleached cutting

I just put a cutting a of a Leather (sp? i'll try to get a good pic of it) from my dad's tank into mine. It was growing in the back of his tank and half of it is bleached from the lack of lighting it recieved the other half is fine it is all on the same foot. I just want to know if there is anything I can do to make sure that it successfully thrives in my tank. I placed it low in the tank because it gets fairly large when fully out. Any suggestions would be helpful.

as long as its alive it should be fine considering u have proper lights and water paramters
just make sure not to over whelm it with intense lighting maybe slowly move from a shadier place to a more bright spot in the tank that way its not shocked
