halide bulb placement ?

How should I mount the reflectors to get the best output from them? I am putting 2 250w bulbs over a 72" long tank. Should I mount them front to back or side to side? I believe that I will get the best output side to side.

What kind of reflectors do you have? They all have different recommendations.

they look like the spider reflectors that come in most retro kits. I don't know the brand as I bought them off of another member here.

I've always mounted them side to side, makes more sense to mount them like that then front to back , you will get better coverage form side to side.

The spider reflectors are supposed to go with the bulb perpendicular to front of tank.I just bought one and that is what they recommend.
