With the countdown less then 24hrs away till the midnight release, figured it's time for a thread.
 
Who else is going to be standing in line tomorrow? Where did you get yours?

I don't have a console, I'm a PC gamer, running XP, so I am regulated to Halo 1 PC, which I play almost everyday at work during lunch on one of our clan's servers www.othclan.com (a bunch of old geezer gamers who enjoy tormenting young punks online)
 
I enjoy the Halo story; have the books, etc. Halo: Reach is an obvious prequel, if near true to the storyline, it should be intense!
 
What other Halo games do you regularly play? Gamertag?

im waiting for it two, but i only have 30 bucks (which i still need to buy my tail spot blenny with, those guys are hard to find when i actually want one). So ill be wating till christmas.
On the up side, my older brother is for sure getting the new C.O.D. When it comes out.

What other Halo games do you regularly play? Gamertag?
I do enjoy the story and what have you, but for me, the real appeal is the multi-player. So intense, so rewarding, so disappointing at the same time, love it.

Besides Reach, which I will be playing pretty much straight for the next few days, I really only play Forza 3. On the PC, I game even less, and when I do, it's usually TrackMania, or one of the racing sims I have (LiveforSpeed, GTR 3, etc)...

I pre-ordered from GameStop, but I doubt that I'll do the midnight release. I'll just pick it up the next day or so.

Well the line GameStop here was huge, probably 200 people. Felt a little chintzy only getting the Standard, seemed like a ton of people here got Limited Edition or Legendary bundle...
 
 
Being playing for the last several hours. Best way to describe it, is just more the same, in the absolutely best way. The graphics are up, the menus are gorgeous, don't mind waiting in matchmaking
, which in itself seems lighting fast, in games very quickly. It's got a ton of original Halo feel and look, but much more modern. Some things I don't like, two people can kill each other meleeing. Some others, but that's it for now. Just one or two more games before bed, I swear

What do you mean by killing eachother meleeing? you could always kill someone with 2 strikes?

Cool...I'll swing by and pick up my copy OTW home from work. Renee has a shift tonight, so I'll spend some time gaming.

Yea, it still does. For example, you melee the other guy, and he gets a melee on you, then you do the ubiquitous dance around to get setup right, and as you for the final strike, if timed right, as your meleeing him for the kill, he can melee you, and you'll death from beat downs.Sort of like how in Halo 3 you could par with the swords, but instead of paring, you'd both just die.
 
Another thing, personally not a fan of the over the top assassinations. Halo was a little different because it didn't have the over-the-top Gears style kills.

My son has been playing it for a few hours. They are usually pretty quiet when gaming but there is alot of noise coming out of the family room.

I just picked up my limited edition today. I work nights, so i wont be playing it tonight. but this weekend I will be getting it a shot. My GT is littleviper04.

A good Halo game, for sure. I haven't played any of the Halo series in awhile, so I had to get used to the control layout again (I threw a lot of grenades while trying to aim with the LT, and died a few times because melee is the RB rather than RS down!). Graphics and sound are good, as is gameplay. I've only been playing in the campaign mode so far. I couldn't get Xbox live to process the PW for the pre-order armor...too much traffic, maybe?

oh I will add you guys to my friends list once I get on. which will probably be Saturday morning (0030 in the morning). It might just be easier to talk shop with you then trying to type it I think.

Yea, the controller layout is different. I also has been aa bit for me, I didn't buy ODST or play the Beta.
 
But, while playing, hit start, then controller, layout, and switch it to 'Recon' I believe that's the closest to the old Halo 1/2/3 layout. I had some initial problems signing into my account on XBL, but once in, everything seemed fine. Haven't tried to get my preorder-armor, yet, will go see if it works for me.

BTW, on multiplayer, I am so digging the different armor abilitiy options. Use the jet pack to get away or drop down on an opponent, use the Hologram so distract and opponent while you go for the kill, maybe camo for sniping, which one do you pick? Adds such a layer of depth to the combat.

Funny...I haven't been able to get onto XBL very well either, altho I'm thinking that it's our cr@ppy internet connection (Time-Warner's wireless networking sux).
 
I've been trying out the various "mods" in the campaign mode just to play with them, and I've been liking the shield that makes you invincible for a short time...it's great to get you out of tight spots, altho invisibility is cool too. I LOVED flying the fighter in space...good fun!
